A fun project I took on last year was helping a client/ friend inject some much needed color into her drab short term apartment in Washington DC. She had purchased a "package" of the basic furniture items - sofa, coffee table, dining table and chairs - but was feeling like the apartment had no color, no life and was basically depressing. Working with a seriously limited budget of $1,000 I proposed a selection of cheap and chic accessories in warm colors like red, orange and yellow with with pops of fresh blues. I also suggested she get herself to a Home Depot to pick up some plants - always the fastest way to add life to a space!.
I was also tasked with finding some fun accessories for her 3 year old daughter's bedroom since it was feeling a little bare. Her parents had generously given her the larger bedroom of the two, so she had lots of space, but not a lot of furniture. She did have a great bed and colorful quilt, so we built on that foundation adding a striped rug, some fun artwork, colorful lamps, and a collection of pillows and poufs. Kids rooms are so fun to work on!
